Full Crystal Ball - Barite - Rare Formation - Bologna Stone- Philosopher's Stone
This is a full Barite Crystal Ball, otherwise called a Bologna Stone, as it was first discovered near Bologna Italy. It was considered to be the original philosopher's stone, as it would glow for hours (after being alchemically altered/treated with heat and other minerals, like flourine). Imagine having the original philosopher's stone!
This was found in Western Colorado, and what a RARE find indeed! You will rarely see them this fresh and clean with full crystal structure, not scratched up or broken. Barite usually grows in crystals, not balls. The crystal pattern radiates from the center of the ball, which you can only see if it is broken.
These are HEAVY, and very interesting to look at and analyse. It glows under UV light bright red/orange! These are very rare, you barely ever see them, and I can't believe I found them here in COLORADO!!
weighs about 9 oz., measures about 2 inches around.
