This is an excellent specimen of a fossilized stromatolite, found in Western Colorado. It is very well preserved and it shows very nice growth detail. A nice large bubble, just as it would have looked when it was alive and growing. I don't usually see them like this.
Stromatolite is one of the first forms of life on Earth. This stromatolite is about 50 million years old according to geologic identification.
