Bologna Stone - Full Crystal Ball - Barite - Rare Formation
This is a full Barite Crystal Ball, otherwise called a Bologna Stone, as it was first discovered near Bologna Italy. It was considered to be the original philosopher's stone, as it would glow for hours (after being alchemically altered/treated with heat and other minerals, like flourine).
This was found in Western Colorado, and what a RARE find indeed! You will rarely see them this fresh and clean with full crystal structure, not scratched up or broken. Barite usually grows in crystals, not balls.
These are HEAVY, and very interesting to look at and analyse. It glows under UV light bright red/orange! These are very rare, you barely ever see them, and I can't believe I found them here in COLORADO!!
weighs about 2.3 oz., measures a bit over an 1 inch around.
